Religious Education

At Clayton Brook, Religious Education is a vital part of our curriculum, helping children to explore, understand, and respect the diverse beliefs and values that shape our world. Through RE, pupils learn about different religions, worldviews, and traditions, as well as the ways these influence people’s lives, communities, and cultures.

We aim to:

• Foster curiosity, open-mindedness, and empathy.

• Encourage respectful discussion and reflection on life’s big questions.

• Help children develop their own sense of identity and values.

Our RE lessons are creative, interactive, and inclusive, enabling every child to learn from and about religion in a safe and supportive environment. By celebrating diversity and promoting understanding, we prepare our pupils to be thoughtful, respectful, and active members of a global community.

Your Right to Withdraw from Religious Education (RE)

At Clayton Brook, we value and respect the different beliefs, faiths, and worldviews that make up our community and the world in which we live. We understand that families may have personal reasons for wanting their child to step out of certain Religious Education (RE) lessons.

By law, parents and carers can ask for their child to be withdrawn from all or part of RE. If this is something you’re considering, we’re here to make the process simple and supportive.

Here’s what to do:

• Take a look at our RE curriculum so you can see what’s being taught.

• Let the Headteacher know in writing which lessons or topics you’d like your child to miss.

• We’re happy to chat through the content with you and arrange suitable alternative activities for your child during that time.

Our priority is to work together so that your child’s learning experience reflects your family’s values while keeping them engaged and included in school life.
